Week In Makeup!!

This week was out of control makeup, brows and psychics! Where should I begin?

Let's start with my demo at Salon Pure in my home city of Downtown LA with my friend Sara.

Then....I mad dashed it over to Montebello to meet up with special effects artist Erick Rodriguez. I interned with him last year to get ready for Monsterpalooza. Here's some of the things from this year and last year.

The next day was spent filming my eyebrow tutorials for ehow and livestrong.com. Thanks to Chef Mariko Amekedommo and Morgan Sky Amekedommo for being my models!!

We started at noon and finished at 4. More purple eyebrows were created! They should be up by next week!

The next day was spent with Erica Ford shopping for her dresses and makeup for her two days as hostess for the The LOVE UNLIMITED FILM FESTIVAL AND ART EXHIBITIONDay 1

I definitely took a nap before heading off to do makeup for the lovely and talented Miss Rebekah Phillip's "I Told You So" music video. Once again I found myself working with producer Kurt Zendzian at TJR Films It was a last minute decision to put this video together. Should we use the bike? : )

TJR films gets mad booked. We were shooting our video for Becks while Art Director Eric Tabor was setting up shop for artist Brandon Billzmoneybagz Pride who was as dope as they come. I got to meet Johnny Silvis the director and another young and talented film maker associated with The TJR crew.

It's the small details.

Not only was TJR setting up for Brandon but they also used this to make a quick move for Music Producer/Aritst Jimmy McGorman's music video. I threw a quick male grooming on him before high tailing off to sleep at 3am. Jimmy produces artists like Laura Michelle and Bob Pressner who I worked with two weeks ago.

The week didn't stop there! The next day I went to meet up with a new client. Tiffany is a psychic who works out of a loft on Downtown's 6th street between Main and Spring next door to Round2LA's vintage shop. There I traded a MAJOR reading to for my eyebrow services. GUUURRRLL they are gypsy/italian. I needed to hand yoga afterwards : ) As for the reading. My career is going fine (keep validating that by booking me as your artist!!)! Things are rocky in love : (, I'll be traveling allot oh and um I'm going to have THREE kids!!! AAAHHHHH!!!

No nap for me as it was time to head back down to TJR Films to finish up the final shots for Bob Pressner's "King Of Nothing" Music Video.

I finished the day off with a makeup tutorial for a good friend of mine before hitting up Spring For Coffee to relax and reflect on all of the amazing people who have filled my week with awesome experiences that keep validating my belief that everything happens for my highest good! Follow me for more about my fun makeup life. I'm shooting with Miss Puerto Rico 2010 on a commercial for Hyundai and a short film this week end. I wonder what kind of bloggerific material will come out of that?

Behind The Scenes Of Bob Pressner's "King Of Nothing Video

Nicole had jury duty and since I had assisted her on Laura Michelle's video Kurt asked me to join them on another shoot. This time the location was a one day in downtown just a skip down from my hood. This shoot was at TJR Films a full service music video and commercial production company ran by the most rad guys. The oldest of the company is Collin who at 27 with his younger brother Taylor, 23 have already achieved so much success with their business for not even being opened a full year! It's really cool to see such ambitious people doing what they love at such a young age. These kids have been on set while they were in their teens and now they're taking off running with TJR some of them on the team not even in their 20's yet. They were fun and professional to work with!

If there was eye candy for the girls, there was certainly something to look at for the guys. On set we had the lovely Lauren, Jasmine(right), Jen (below) and even Playboy's May centerfold Nikki Leigh rounded out the sexy models that Becks and I got to doll up!

I even grabbed Sam of the art department and took a spin around her brows with my pencil and some thread. See the difference from the left to the right one?

You would think that everyone would have gotten all twittered around all these babes but the girls were so cool and down to earth that you almost barely noticed that there wasn't much between you and their naughty bits :) Plus, there were other distractions.....

This is Nick Bishop . Nick has been handling snakes and scorpions and other scary creatures since forever. He brought his little friend Butters along to upstage our models.

You either ran from Butters, an albino boa (just like the one Britney danced with at the VMAs) or you took a picture with him.

Of course there was actual work going on in between the snakery. The crew busted a sweat building this dope set!

We had fun and wrapped somewhere in the 3am zone. It was an awesome shoot with some amazingly wonderful people!! Behind the scenes of Laura Michelle's "Chuck Norris" Music Video

One bright day while watching Pride and Prejudice and Atonement between commercials I broke my Keira Knightly fest with a texty from my bestie and co makeup artist Nicole Burg.  She had been asked to be the key makeup artist on the set of Laura Michelle's video "Chuck Norris" and asked if I'd like to come down and help. Being that I was visiting my mother's house in my old neighborhood of Northridge, and just blocks away, I decided to head over.

  The shoot was being held at Skateland! Ahh I remember my first time there back in 1984. I always hear Uh-Huh's "Take On Me" when I walk through those doors. How many skate nights and birthday parties have I attended at Skateland? Million and 6. So, I came in and immediately met Laura, her lovely mom Theresa and their craft services!

This is Kurt, he was the producer and trend setter of the crew as you can see. Across from him was Kyle who was the fastest thing on wheels since they started putting fast things on wheels.  It's always a little nerve wracking coming onto a set but when people are dressed like this, you know you're in for a good time.

Not to be left out, this leggy dream boat was Max. Max and Kurt are two filming buddies fron Connecticut. They come out every now and again to create music videos for artists like Laura.  

Then after so much begging and pleading I reluctantly jumped into a pair of skates to be in the video look ant how shy I  am. I didn't fall but unfortunately not everyone went away unscathed :(

Nic asked me back for the second day of the shoot. I can't show you too much of the shoot because it's a surprise! Here's a few of Nicole running around between takes with our set being Hollywood boulevard. At first we balked because we as locals never go there. "Why do people want to come here?" Then we turned it into a "can't beat em join em thang"

Ok ok back to work and off to the third leg of the shoot in Santa Monica.....Again those will be posted after the video debuts but here's one of DP Michael Bolton putting on two different colored sock! Now I've seen everything!

After filming that scene Laura graciously took a few of the crew for a lovely Italian dinner. I secretly really do love the west side!

We heading back to West Hollywood for the final scene on the night, back in costume Max!!

Eric over hear can play you any song on the piano so we jammed out before the start of the last scene. Props to the whole crew for an awesome job!

Brows; The Good, The Bad and The Scary!!!

These are the people that rock my world! Eyebrows that are awe striking and OMG WTF was that?"" inducing! Here are some fun interpretations of eyebrows and a few tips on keeping the frame of your face showing off the beautiful art work of you!!! Tell me which ones are your favsies!! 

Let's take a look at a symetrical eyebrow shape. Looking good is based on symetry and balance. It's science yo!

Smoldering! His brows would fail what I call the sweater test. If I brushed them down (put the sweater on) the hair would cover his eyes like a wheaton terrier. Damn I want to thread that middle sooo bad!

I'd have to get seriously Edward Scissor Hands on this right here!

What did his eyebrows ever do to him huh? Brows like this make his eyes even closer together. Tsk tsk tsk!

I don't even believe these are shaved off. This girl knows what's up right? She really wakes up very early every morning to seal and cover her brows with liquid latex yeah? Glue stick? No one would ever SERIOUSLY do this right?

Can these girls rock me any harder??? This is how they "jump you in"

Ok so maybe it was botox gone askew. What can we do to even these puppies out?  First we have to pick the one that we like better, ok um.......Well let's start actually with the the one we can most like make more like it's sister. The one on her right will have to come down and the left one we would have to attepmt to arch up a bit. If you have an enveveness problem by all means BOOK with me now. These are my favorite types of eyebrows to play with!!!!!

Collin's got a bit of an unveneness problem as well. Of course thick gorgeous brows are coveted and they're most people's "thing" and reason why they don't get them done, but COME ON!!!!! One is clearly bigger than it's polio stricken lil bro. Collin, book with me STAT!!

Oh Brokki poo, yes you're known for your bodacious brows but who was this makeup artist that didnt notice the uneven moves these bad boys were making? I would just slightly grind down a smidge the front part of her right brow. Voila! They aren't thinner or compromising of the shape! BAMN!

  

You know what? I embrace this eye brow look. Do what makes you feel good. But if having these brows and swimming are your thing, you can never have both : (

I love him! His brows are so very ",broken handle off of a 1950's kitchen silverware drawer." Those things are perfect for opening beers if you've lost an opener! My favoie thing is his blonde roots growing out. Respect him people. He has to really work at this look!
